This is not medical care

MindState is a wellness and journalling tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe, and it is not a substitute for a clinician who can examine you. Nothing it says should be used to start, stop or change a prescribed medication; take that to whoever prescribed it.

The app screens what you write for signs that something needs urgent care and will tell you when it sees one. That screen is deliberately cautious and will sometimes warn you about nothing. It can also miss things. It is a prompt to get help, never a reason not to.

If you think you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.

Your account

You sign in with a Google account and you are responsible for keeping access to it. One account is one person: it is built around a single individual's history and gives poor advice if two people share it.

You must be old enough to consent to processing your own health information where you live. Do not upload records belonging to somebody else.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and are handled by Stripe. Cancel any time from inside the app; access continues to the end of the period already paid for. Prices can change, with notice, and never retroactively for a period already billed.

If a subscription lapses, nothing you have written is deleted. The coaching features stop; everything else keeps working.

Availability

This service runs on a single small server. It is maintained carefully but it is not redundant, and it comes with no uptime guarantee. Export your data if you would be upset to lose it: the button is under My data.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to reach another account's data, disrupt the service, or use it to give medical advice to other people. Accounts doing any of that can be suspended.

Liability

MindState is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for decisions made on the basis of anything the app says. You are responsible for your own health decisions, and for involving a clinician in them.

Changes

These terms can change. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
